INVESTIGATION ON THE GESTURE - UNESCO 1958 (b/w photo)

GESTURES Vittorio Gassman (1922- 2000) performs the interpretation of theatrical gestures or "tragic attitudes" (Morrocchesi): sitting backwards on a chair, elbows resting on the back, forefingers of both hands upward , raised eyebrows. Possible meaning: request for attention to ask a question. With other actors he participated in the world survey on the value of the gesture in human culture promoted by UNESCO at the V International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences held in Philadelphia in 1956, and that for Italy was conducted by dr. Romano Calisi and by Ando Gilardi. Later the director of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Rome, prof. Tullio Tentori, understanding the value of research, joined the group as a conservative and archivist.
