This scene shows the kitchen of the Flying Horse pub in Newcastle's Groat Market. It was the meeting place for beggars, street-sellers and entertainers. On the left, leaning on a stick, is Judy Dowling, Keeper of the Town Hutch. The violinist Blind Willie is shown seated at the front of the group. The various people were recorded in a North-East song known as 'Hell's Kitchen'. This is a copy of Henry Perlee Parker's original picture (now in a private collection), which was owned by the local MP, Charles Brandling;
