La “une”” from the first issue of the “World illustrious”, a weekly French news magazine published from 1857 to 1940 and from 1945 to 1956. He was a direct competitor to the newspaper “” L'Illustration”, created a few years earlier. Unlike some of its competitors who put forward news in images, Le Monde illustrious does not value its artistic contributors. The reason is that most of the images come from reworked English prints. Even the original headband (frontispiece), grave by the English William Frederick Measom, was redesigned by Catenacci. This number 1, dated 18 April 1857, nevertheless includes a drawing by the famous cartoonist Gavarni (Sulpice Guillaume Chevalier, 1804-1866) - The “one” opens up to a view of the elections in London (England, Great Britain) - vote in London -
