Trigo and Corcho Guerra took part in the initial assault that launched the Cuban revolution 50 years ago. Trigo was one of the rebels who participated in the attack, led by Fidel Castro on July 26, 1953, on Santiago's Moncada army barracks, the second most important military base of former dictator Fulgencio Batista.
