First Girl Around the World. An illustration based on Elizabeth Cochrane's autobiography: a train from Gallup, New Mexico, approached a bridge which was under repair and which was unlikely to withstand the weight of a fully-laden train. Workmen scrambled to get out of the way but by some miracle the bridge held. Original artwork from Look and Learn no. 395 (9 August 1969).
