Image description

Goma'a, who uses a pseudonym, hides his face with his two hands as he recalls in a Palestinian prison cell the long years he worked as a collaborator for Israel in Gaza Strip. Goma'a cousin, a leader of a Palestinian Islamic militant group in a Gaza refugee camp, was killed in 1995 after Goma'a started cooperating with the Israeli secret services. Members of the Palestinian security forces arrested Goma'a at his home four months ago. Under interrogation he told them he had collaborated with Israel for 20 years, but said he had not realised that the intention was to kill his cousin. Goma'a is one of a growing number of people detained on suspicion of collaborating with Israel during the uprising which erupted last September after peace talks stalled.
