Eve and the Serpent, 1979 (painting)

Eve and the Serpent (51.5 x 18 cm, 1979) - “Eve's Hesitation”, tree of life, icon on wood painted by Charles Sahuguet (1910-1990) illustrating a biblical scene: “The serpent was the most cunning of all the animals in the field... he said to the woman: Did God really say “you will not eat of all the trees in the garden?” The woman answered the serpent, “God said, of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, you shall not eat it or touch it, under pain of death.” Then the snake said to the woman: “You will not die!
