Eisbahn / Rink (colour litho)

Eisbahn. Der Eislauf mit Schlittschuhen, eine altnordische Erfindung, in Deutschland aber erst durch Klopstock volkstumlich gemacht, wurde im 19 Jahrh immer mehr zu einem gesunden Wintervergnugen, dem sich Klein und Gross hingab. In den Stadten mit wenig naturlichen Eisflachen, legte man Kunst-Eisbahnen an, die sorgfaltig gepflegt und durch standiges Sprengen glatt gehalten wurden. Translation: Rink.
