Switzerland Weather Station Jungfraujoch, 1946 (b/w photo)

The Sphinx Observatory on the Jungfraujoch, taken in June 1946, celebrates its 15th anniversary. The inauguration of the Swiss research institute, the Jungfraujoch high-alpine research station, took place on 4 July 1931. The weather station, which has been in operation since 1922, was integrated into the new building in 1938. On this occasion an exhibition with invited guests will be opened. On the terrace of the Observatory, Professor Alexander von Muralt from Bern, centre, President of the International Board of Trustees of the Research Station, the Federal Councillor Max Petitpierre, on the far left, and Karl Kobelt with her wives Mathilde Kobelt-Gallmann and Antoinette Petitpierre, on the far right, explain the technical equipment of the Research Station.
