Mouth of the Kelvin (watercolour)

Signed and inscribed with title Watercolour with bodycolour 10 ¾ x 17 ½ inches (27.25 x 44.5 cm) Additional Notes The river Kelvin is a northern tributary of the Clyde. It rises in the hills of Kilsyth and travels 21 miles south west until it reaches the Clyde at Kelvinhaugh. This painting captures Glasgow during the last century when it was the centre for the world's shipbuilding industry. Wyllie shows the mouth of the Kelvin from the south west with ships under construction at D & W Henderson's yard on the west bank (left), and A & J Inglis' on the east (right).
