The faun on the right, holds a basket of fruit, the bacchante, on the left, looking up at the faun, fingers some grapes in his basket. Rubens painted several versions of this subject and this copy is closest to a work in the Moltke Collection in Copenhagen; the other versions are in Vienna, Dresden and The Hague and the prime original in a private collection, France.
