United States Army Signal Corps gold Military Aviator's badge with an American eagle and two crossed Signal Corp flags held in its talons chain-linked to bar with embossed text "MILITARY AVIATOR." The badge was designed by Henry H. "Hap" Arnold between 1911 and 1912 and this particular one was owned by Thomas Dewitt Milling (July 31, 1887 – November 26, 1960), a military pilot and the first rated pilot in the history of the U.S. Air Force.
