Luftwaffe First Pattern dagger, 1934-36 (leather, wood, steel & brass)

Hilt pommel is decorated on both faces with a brass pinwheel swastika. Grip with wooden core, covered in (very) dark blue leather. Downswept crossguards in the form of stylized wings, with a small, brass-coloured swastika inset centrally on the quillon block on each side. Double-edged, Solingen blade. The dagger formerly belonged to Private Arthur Stanley Edwards, who enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment during the Second World War and saw active service in North Africa and Europe, including a period as a prisoner of war in German hands.
