He became famous by publishing the year of his death “De la revolution des orbes celestial”, a book in which he defends the idea of a heliocentric system. In this system the planets, including the Earth, revolve around the Sun. The heliocentric system was confirmed by Galilee observations in 1609. Street Copernic, street sign. Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus is the author of De revolutionibus orbium coelestium where he introduced the heliocentric theory and displaced the Earth from the center of the Universe
