Flowchart or organigramme created by Charles de Figon (d.1616), Maitre des Comptes at Montpellier and secretary to Catherine de Bourbon (1559-1604) sister of King Henri IV of France and Navarre; used as the frontispiece for his treatise on the structure of French governance 'Discours des Etats et offices tant du Gouvernement que de la Justice et des Finances de France', published in 1579; Arbre des Etats et Offices de France; the first known depiction in France of the sustem of government; rediscovered in the 20th century by the French historian, Emanuel le Roy Ladurie;
