T. W. MacKay (fl.1826 – 1853). Oil painting on canvas, Sir Lovel Benjamin Lovell (Badcock) (1786 –1861) in Hussar Uniform by T. W. MacKay (fl.1826 – 1853), signed by T.W. Mackay. Three-quarter length portrait of a mature man, turned slightly to left gazing at the spectator, wearing Hussar uniform, a battle raging in the background. He is grey-haired, slightly balding, wearing a blue full military uniform, a fur-trimmed cape over his left shoulder and bearskin hat with red and white plume under his right arm. His left hand holds his sheathed sword. A battle is raging in the background. Sir Lovell Lovell was the uncle of Georgiana, Lady Crewe and like her father, Admiral Lovell, he was a hero of the Napoleonic Wars. An inscription plaque hangs underneath the frame is inscribed, 'MAJOR GENERAL LOVELL K.H.'. Calke Abbey, Derbyshire (Accredited Museum)
